About :

General Engineering is Group of sections consisting of Civil, Drawing, Horticulture, Electrical, Air conditioning, Telephone, Water Supply, Gardening, Transportation and Workshop. There are total one Principal Scientist (Group-IV), three Sr. Technical Officers, two Technical Officers, sixteen Sr. Technicians, thirty one Lab Attendants/Lab Assistants/Group D (NT) in the group. Following are the areas of working of different sections.

Section 1: Civil & Horticulture

Civil, Drawing, Horticulture and Sanitation Sections provide services related to Renovation, Design, Drawing, maintenance/modification and up-gradation of estate Building, Structures, office and colony buildings and infrastructures. Cleaning and up keeping of office premises and colony. Renovation and maintenance of staff offices, laboratories, quarters, roads and other infrastructures. Renovation/construction of different R&D plants, offices and other buildings/structures. Installation of R&D equipments and machines by providing suitable foundation and supports etc. Development and maintenance of Garden and Lawns.

Section 3: Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering Section is providing electricity facilities to R&D activities of the Institute and necessary engineering support to ongoing project works, laboratory works and public utilities. Electrical Engineering Sec are having 2000 kVA indoor type power substation with 4x500 Kva, 11 kV/415V/220V power transformer and allied HT/LT switch gears, capacitor bank, 2x 200+1x250 kVA DG sets etc. to provide smooth power supply in institute. Electrical Section also provides services to repair and maintenance of air conditioners in the institute.

Section 4: Water Supply

Water Supply, Workshop and Transport Section are providing support related to pumping of raw water from Damodar river to CIMFR-Digwadih campus storage lake, filtration of raw water from existing 0.4MGD water treatment plant and then distribution of filtered water to staff quarters, Institute, guest house, dispensary etc. Repairing/maintenance work of VT pump at Damodar Pumping Station. Operation and maintenance of 0.4MGD Water Treatment Plant. Maintenance of water pipe line and sanitary installations of staff quarters, Institute, Guest house etc. To provide required water for different ongoing projects by laying new pipe line and fittings in schedule time.

Section 6: Transport

Transport section is providing transportation arrangements for officials. Repair/maintenance of vehicles to avoid break down and allotment of vehicles against requisition from different departments for various office activities.
